When people go online and look for a product or service you want them to find your website. Virtually all people go to a search engine, such as Google, and search for what they want. All major search engines conveniently provide the ability to place advertising related to what the customer is searching for; advertising that could be for your business. This is a form of direct response marketing meaning that the exact return on investment can be calculated. While I do not need to know how much profit you make per sale/lead on the initial consultation I cannot ensure the advertising will be profitable without knowing this. I normally calculate the average cost per sale/lead after I have enough data 1 – 3 months after I setup advertising. Many customers allow for the value of customer acquisition if they have customer loyalty programs in place.

Regardless of how your website is promoted everybody who visits your website but doesn't buy or at least contact you for more information is lost money. Every website (including this one) has things that could be done to improve it so that more people will buy or follow up for more information. It is important to promote your website, but improving the percentage of visitors who convert is worth cash too.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

This form of promotion is simply optimizing your website to get more people to it from the search engines and other websites. This involves multiple small changes to your website and building links to your website. The result is a long term amount of people coming to your website for what you have on it, hopefully “free” customers. Because the process does’t involve paying money to the search engines it is not a form of advertising and is more similar to a press release campaign. Unlike a press release campaign though the result of SEO is long term publicity; not just a brief blast of visibility. There are two parts to SEO changes to your website, and link building which is talking about your business on the web.

Website consulting

It is fairly straightforward (and all important) to set goals for your website, not just your business. While knowing how much you get out of it depends on what is put into it I can help you decide where to put time and money in, and where to walk away. There are a lot of possibilities of what features to put in your website all of which cost something. Most businesses forget to allow for website promotion when they have a website. As with what to have on your website, you need to decide how much to invest how and where. If you aren’t sure exactly what you want, expect, or need to put in I can help you decide. The first consultation is free which usually lasts 1 hour.
